This may come as a disappointment to some of you, but it was, according to Wikipedia, Mississippi mud pie is not created in Mississippi. It's actually from California. The name derives from the fact that the crust brown or brown cake looks like the bank of the Mississippi River. Wherever it came from, it is sinfully delicious.
There are many versions of the Mississippi mud pie. Some use instant (canned) ingredients from the store. I do the same style, but my feeling is that if you gousing canned ingredients, why not buy a ready-made cake from the store?
The reason home-made, ground is so much better that you can customize the flavors to your taste if you do it yourself, instead of a machine to do it for you. And, of course, can produce the extra ingredient, not a factory. It's called "baked with love."
There are two versions of the popular Mississippi mud pie. One is a cake-like version and the other is an ice cream cakeVersion (and there are probably more). We offer both recipes here.
